While Banner Advertising might not get you too many visitors to your website due to a sharp decline in click thru rates, they can still be a very effective tool for branding your site and getting your program noticed. If you see the name "Wally's Widgets" millions of times on millions of websites then soon you will want to know just what these widgets look like and what they do. That is what is known as exposure. The more widely known a product or program becomes, the more it appeals to the public.

Paying for banner impressions or exposures can be quite expensive. However there are several banner exchanges that offer....well... banner exchanges. You will insert a small snippet of code into your website that will show their banners to all your visitors. In turn they will do the same with your banners. The most popular rate is 3:2 meaning for every three times you show one of their their banners yours will be shown twice. This a very fair exchange rate.
